We are Kansas City’s Newest Taiko Troupe!
Our players bring decades of percussion experience across a wide range of traditions — western percussion, Chinese lion, Thai, and Middle Eastern drumming styles. Together, we carry over 50 years of combined percussion experience and 11 years of taiko experience, including workshops led by both national and international artists.
Our training reflects that depth. We have studied under national and international instructors and completed coursework through Kodo, including their Odaiko, Taiko Fundamentals, and Body Mechanics for Odaiko programs. Our playing style draws inspiration from Edo Bayashi (Tokyo Traditional Festival Music) and the Kodo Taiko School.
We welcome a diverse membership and believe taiko is something to be experienced and shared collectively. Our approach centers on body mechanics and fundamentals, with a goal of playing efficiently and effectively — channeling the energy of the earth through the player and into the taiko. We are committed to developing the body, mind, and spirit of every player.
